Veterans get property tax exemption in Texas

Here is some very important information for vets who were disabled in the line of duty. Texas vets are eligible for major property tax exemptions due to a law that applies statewide.

Texas veterans who have been disabled by more than 10% in the line of duty get a discount on their property taxes according to a sliding scale. The tax exemption is mandatory, and is applicable for used homes and new San Antonio homes alike.

Texas vets property tax exemption

  • Disabled 10% to 29%: First $ 5,000 of appraised value
  • Disabled 30% to 49%: First $ 7,500 of appraised value
