Here is some very important information for vets who were disabled in the line of duty. Texas vets are eligible for major property tax exemptions due to a law that applies statewide.
Texas veterans who have been disabled by more than 10% in the line of duty get a discount on their property taxes according to a sliding scale. The tax exemption is mandatory, and is applicable for used homes and new San Antonio homes alike.
Texas vets property tax exemption
- Disabled 10% to 29%: First $ 5,000 of appraised value
- Disabled 30% to 49%: First $ 7,500 of appraised value
- Disabled 50% to 69%: First $ 10,000 of appraised value
- Disabled 70% or more: First $ 12,000 of appraised value
